Reception March 13, 5 - 7 pm

           The La Veta Schools have a new art teacher this year,        Nanci Rollins.

Ms. Rollins teaches K-12 art for the La Veta Schools. Originally from Billings, Montana, Rollins attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman, Mt., acquiring a Bachelor of Art in Art Education and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting/Printmaking.  Her own artwork is mostly abstract and very colorful; this influences the projects that she does with the students. This is her 3^rd year teaching and she is  thrilled to be in La Veta.

“I feel that art is important at any age. It has been a little challenging with such a wide range of students but I feel that everyone has done very well.  I try to show that there are many different ways to define art and the language of it through the projects that we do. So often students want to just copy a picture but I push them in more of an abstract direction because then they are guaranteed an original work of art…no two are the same!”
