The La Veta Students Art Show is a fantastic display of artwork done this year by the students of La Veta schools art teacher, Nanci Rollins. Not only is the artwork the result of Ms. Rollins' guidance, but she also has put the entire show together. An energetic person, her creativity is reflected in the work of her students. Ms. Rollins teaches K-12 art for the La Veta Schools. Originally from Billings, Montana, Rollins attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman, Mt., acquiring a Bachelor of Art in Art Education and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting/Printmaking. Her own artwork is mostly abstract and very colorful; this influences the projects that she does with the students. “I feel that art is important at any age. It has been a little challenging with such a wide range of students but I feel that everyone has done very well. I try to show that there are many different ways to define art and the language of it through the projects that we do. So often students want to just copy a picture but I push them in more of an abstract direction because then they are guaranteed an original work of art…no two are the same!” |
| This year's student art show includes artwork from every student involved in her classes, from Preschool through 12th grade. It is a tremendously exciting show. Here are a few pictures. |
