I have been drawn to art since childhood, but I had other callings as well, and like so many of my generation I needed to prepare myself to join the work force. So I pushed art to the background to pursue vocations in nursing and later chaplaincy. Chaplaincy was my profession until recent retirement.

As a Foreign Service spouse for 28 years with frequent global moves working and raising a family I had wonderful opportunities to study with culturally diverse artists and teachers taking classes in Asia, the middle east. East and Western Europe whenever possible.

A love for brushes and brushwork reflects the early influence of Chinese brush painting studied in a Chinese art guild in Manila, Philippines. I am in awe of our early Southwest and California painters, many of whom trekked back and forth between Santa Fe, Taos and Carmel, California in the twenties, thirties and forties. That period of work makes my heart sing.

I paint plein air to try and capture a moment of the majesty and beauty of this wonderful country we live in. Painting centers me in that present moment. My spiritual journey certainly drives all that I see and create.
