The Gallery of the Spanish Peaks Arts Council, also known as the Gallery in the Park, is located at 132 W. Ryus, La Veta, Colorado. Phone 719 742-3074. Mailing address: SPACe, P.O. Box 419, La Veta, CO 81055 SPACe is a nonprofit community based and member owned organization dedicated to support of the arts and art education. Resources which support SPACe include community volunteers, membership dues, donations, booth fees from the annual Art in the Park festival and a percent of sales of artwork in the Gallery and Gallery Gift Shop. Eric Bachman, owner of Bachman and Associates Real Estate in La Veta employed the late Margie Bradley to do ink drawings of all the properties he listed, since 1994. Bachman has generously donated all of Margie's original ink drawings to SPACe for fundraising. The drawings are available for $50 each. Most are about 5" x 8" in size. They could be reproduced to make lovely notecards and would make excellent gifts. To find out if an original drawing of your home or property is available, call the SPACe Gallery, 719 742-3074 or email: gallery@spanishpeaksarts.org You will need to provide the property address and any other name it is known by or a description, as well as your name and phone contact. Once it is confirmed that a drawing of the property is available you will be contacted to arrange payment. Be sure to visit other nonprofits in La Veta. Next show: Clay Continuum 6 Our longtime devoted secretary/treasurer, Bonnie Geppert passed away due to respiratory failure April 26. She will be greatly missed. We have raised almost 90% of the $205,000 necessary to finish the construction. View some of the original works that were displayed at the Parkside Gallery in the Clayton Staples retrospective, Artists Never Retire. Donate $100 to the Building Expansion and have a unique ceramic tile made with your name, integrated into the renovated entrance of the SPACe Gallery. Click here for the form valuable MOVIE POSTERS available contribute to the SPACe building expansion by purchasing one or more of the posters DVDs of singer songwriter Nancy Cook's benefit performance at the La Veta Inn are now available at the SPACe Gallery. A donation of $5 for the DVD goes to the Building Expansion Fund. There is also an assortment of cards donated by artists to benefit the BEF, as well as handmade Christmas ornaments. The Gallery displays the works of regional artists in a variety of changing exhibits throughout the year, while the Gift Shop provides members a year-round outlet for their arts and crafts. Most of the exhibits shown in the Gallery are open to all artists. In addition, SPACe sponsors the annual Children's Art Workshop in the Town Park for children ages 5 -12, the annual Independence Day Art in the Park festival, and the annual Studio and Gallery Tour.
